Highwood Technology Students Placed 5th Best in Province at 3D Animation, making Highwood a top 5 technology competition school in the Province for 3 years in a row! Mr. Robideau is very proud of Josh J. and Danny P. for their hard work this year. They competed with Autodesk Maya, which was new to everyone at the school this year, including Mr. Robideau! A lot of hard work and effort went into learning the program, which all Highwood Communication Technology students are benefiting from as it's part of their course, and that effort paid off!
This year's results have added to the growing legacy of Highwood's participation in Provincial skills animation competition. Highwood has now placed in the top 5 for 3 years in a row. Mr. Robideau is very proud of the students and their effort, and is very excited about the competition next year as they will have another year of practice under their belts with the new software plus the experience of the competition in general.
"I think a top 3 placement, which would be a medal achievement, is definitely a possibility next year for our students." said Mr. Robideau. "This year they were working with a very difficult piece of software for the first time, and they hadn't competed at skills before. Even with all of those huge challenges, they placed 5th best in the Province! I am very proud and we will be working extremely hard next year to improve that position with the goal of winning a Provincial medal for the school!"
In other news, Animation work has finished for all CTECH students just in time for exam break. Mr. Robideau is very proud of the work submitted by students, and is excited about next year's work. "As students get more comfortable with Maya, their creativity is unleashed! The concepts and ideas the students generate as their skill improves is very exciting and I am looking forward to seeing all the awesome creations next year!"
